Esperanza Outreach Trip

What is Esperanza? Esperanza (Tlay Maak Tsu) is a boat-in Christian community located between Tahsis and Zeballos on the northwest side of Vancouver Island.  Traditionally, the Ehattesaht people of the Nuu chah-nulth used it as a resting and stop-over place on canoe journeys due to its readily available water source and protection by Nootka Island.  Esperanza was home to the historic Nootka Mission Hospital until 1974.

Currently, Esperanza offers a place to rest for those who need refuge from "the storms of life".  The staff travel into the local villages and offer ongoing community care through visiting, church services, school gorups, and youth groups.  In the Summer, Esperanza runs camps, serving the kids and youth from nearby communities.

The purpose of this trip is to bring hands on support, serving the practical needs of Esperanza and the West Coast peoples.
There are always a wide range of projects to be done, from cleaning up gardens to baking cookies for kids groups, powerwashing, splitting wood, organization, cleaning, etc.  All ages are welcome on this trip - children, grannies, and grandpas too!
